Neighborhood Information - In 2005, Yorba Linda was voted number 21 in the Best Places to Live by CNN Money Magazine. Considerations were based on a wide variety of variables, including location, education scores, economic indicators, and the local job market among other considerations. This survey reported that the median home price for Yorba Linda real estate was $647,563 and the median household income was $96,632.
Yorba Linda is a city in Orange County and was named after a soldier from a Spanish expedition in 1769. The soldier, Jose Antonio Yorba, petitioned the King of Spain for a land grant in 1809 and received 62,000 acres. The land he received became known as Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana. Yorba's third son combined these lands with lands he himself was granted and created one of the greatest ranchos of all time.
A section of the rancho was sold to the Janss Corporation in 1907. It was then subdivided and sold for agricultural usage. The area began to grow after the Pacific Electric Railroad connected the area to Los Angeles and in 1967 the growing city was incorporated.
